How the Word Spa Works

The Word Spa makes it easy to hire a professional writer without the usual meetings and the usual cost. If you can write a first draft, we'll take it from there.

How does it work?
The Word Spa is simple to use: Send your current text through our spa submission page, along with notes on your project and audience. Our certified text message therapists do the rest. You'll receive your rewritten text by email -- usually within two business days. Pricing is by the word.

What kind of text can I submit?
Word Spa therapists are certified to rewrite all types of text: Website copy, press releases, internal memos, folksy barbecue shack menus, customer emails, blog posts, grant proposals, resumes and love letters.

Please, no homework or feature film scripts.

How long does it take?
Typically, two business days. Text submitted Tuesday at 2:00 pm will be returned by Thursday at 2:00 pm. Text submitted Friday at 11:00 am will be returned by Tuesday at 11:00 am. We can't always make this goal, but we typically do. Learn more about timing.

Extremely long or complicated documents may take more than two days. If we think that's the case, we'll tell you when we receive your text.

What does it cost?
19 cents a word. That's per word you submit: 200 words will be 200 x $0.19, or a total of $38.00. The number of words we return to you doesn't matter.

To keep things simple, you pay by credit card or PayPal when you order. Learn more about pricing.

Can you write my first draft for me?
No. The Word Spa is not a birthing clinic. We can't create your text from scratch. We must have a draft to work with.

Naturally, your text doesn't have to be in tip-top shape. Get your ideas down in your own words, in sentences and paragraphs, and we'll take it from there.

Can the Word Spa create a PowerPoint or HTML page for me?
We're delighted to massage the text from PowerPoint decks, web pages, or other special formats. The Word Spa is for words only; we can't code HTML, build presos, or handle other technical or graphic details. After treatment, your text will be returned in a simple text document which you can format and adapt to your own needs.

What about rewrites of the rewrites?
We give you one great rewrite. Second and third rewrites aren't part of the price.

We do try to be flexible. If you need "one little tweak" to our revisions, contact us and we'll do our best to help out for free. If you change your mind about what you want to say, of course we'll be happy to do a fresh massage at the usual price.

Will Word Spa massage my text in Portuguese or Korean?
Alas, no. At this time the Word Spa accepts text in English only.

Do I have to credit the Word Spa?
Certainly not. The words are yours, to do with as you will.

Will you really massage my love letters?
Certainly. Love letters must not violate any state or federal guidelines, laws, or restraining orders.

Wisdom of the Word Spa:

"Grandpa used to say: Don't hide the pork chops back where the broccoli should be."

If you have juicy facts, serve them first.

Weak first line: "In these difficult economic conditions, it's important to identify new customers and new ways of approaching them to grow your business."

Strong first line: "Spanish speakers will account for 13% of all online spending in the United States by 2011."
